Basic Pascal
A downloadable game for Windows

Basic Pascal version 1.20 "Lagushka" – retro and arcade, two months have passed.
The time has come for a new version of the set. This means a certain number of games have accumulated, and it's time to release them in a new version. There are four new games here. Three of them are written in Free Pascal. They are simpler, like straight out of a computer science lesson for smart kids from the 80s and 90s. And one game – Frog. In Free Basic. It already looks like an arcade game from the same era. 80s-90s. Vertical screen. And arcade gameplay. With graphics. With sprites.

This time I didn't delay with the new version. I decided to do everything in a more or less reasonable timeframe. About a couple of months. And a new release! This time, I managed to fit in one and a half plans. The first plan is called "Fishing Rod". It has three games in Pascal. And the second plan is called Frog. Named after the first game in the plan. Although the second plan isn't finished yet. But the game is ready. There are only four games. And I'm making a release!

This version is called Frog. It's a funny creature from the river. From the countryside. From the thick green grass. It hides in the grass. If it's hot. And it loves to swim in the river. Or croak. A kind arcade game about a frog. A game about swimming. You swim in a small river. And press the spacebar to shoo away flies and mosquitoes.

And use the left and right arrow keys to move sideways. To avoid obstacles. It's all so simple and fun! There are 9 ponds ahead! Colorful sprite graphics. Water lilies are floating. I drew a bunch of sprites. Two types of each. A total of 18 sprites for the water lilies. And the same for the small stones. And the flies and mosquitoes—they're flies and mosquitoes. A one sprite for each of them! A game with sprite graphics. And about friendly little animals. An important topic for me. So that's what I named this version of the release.

And three more games from the "Fishing Rod" (Udochka) plan. There, I practiced programming in Pascal. In the Free Pascal variant. I took a course, lessons, and then took up this programming language. It all reminds me of games from the early 90s or late 80s. For some 386SX2. Or something like that. Maybe MSX 2. I've long dreamed of making games like that.

Blue screen. Like Volkov Commander or Norton Commander. And there are just circles on the water. And you have a fishing rod in your hands. You move the rod around the screen. That's the cursor. And you press the spacebar. When there are circles on the water, that's how you get points.
Parohod. Steamship. Another simple game. Also a blue screen. There's a steamship sailing. And other steamships are sailing towards it. And you dodge them. You swim from left to right. Just use the arrow keys to keep swimming. To avoid obstacles, it's like you're swimming down a river.

Auto Car Stop. It's already a black screen. But the game is also simple. You're moving along a road. Top down view. And have to avoid other cars. It's like driving down a long road. Like you're going on a long journey. Into the city, for example. It's a bit like a game about a steamboat. In its concept.
For Fishing Rod, I'm using Free Pascal. With Graph, I'm also using a module. So graphics are possible there. But not too fancy. So, it all looks like really simple, retro programming. Which I really like!

And for Frog. It's a real arcade game. Vertical format. With graphics. Sprites. And wow! There's a frog swimming with a fun along the river! Flowers growing around. Grass. Everything is so nice! And it feels so summery!
Four new games! Retro and arcade. And most importantly, I didn't delay the release! It only took a couple of months!

Parohod :like:
Super cool—the graphics remind me of playing Magnavox Odyssey 2 games in my early youth! Loving that small file size, too.
Thanks a lot! Thats right! I for mysel often to look a screenshots for 8 bit systems. Yes, every game has a small size. And a small screen. So this is apure retro. It is programmed in Qbasic or Pascal programming languages!
